Ok, my first post for TADA! I will also be doing PAW for TADA (Post A Week!) on Thursdays.
So I’m gearing down from Ring A Day (RAD) and preparing to be a ‘True Addict of Daily Art!” RAD was so relentless and frustrating and painful and fun and satisfying that ending it is like almost losing a limb, but we must move on.
My plan for TADA is to pick a design and work on it every day until I have tried every option available. I look forward to posting sketches along with my progress and I’m hoping to gain proficiency and be able to develop many of the ideas I’ve had through the year with RAD that I never had to time to go with. Of course, we’ll have to wait and see what really evolves!
I’ve learned that my biggest difficulty is impulse control (and not just in creating art.) I’ve learned that my brain is like a 2-year old and sometimes doesn’t feel like working or wants to jump from one thing to another or eat a whole tray of brownies. I, on the other hand, need to be the adult and not give in to the crazy whims of my brain. Like having a 2-year old, I need to guide my brain to the things that I know are best for me in the long run, not just what I’m feeling in the moment. I’m hoping to be able to focus on creating bodies of work even when I feel like I suck, or think the idea is stupid. I will keep working, every day, and I will show it all to you!!
You can watch our progress or join in yourself at http://tada365.blogspot.com/
And if that’s not enough for you, be sure to check in or join our new Flickr group ‘Ring A Week’ (RAW) http://www.flickr.com/groups/ringaweek/ another evolution of RAD. Everyone’s invited!
See ya January 1, 2011!!

I agree with every word you say! Especially about the brownie part :-)
ReplyDeleteWe will need your recipe for the brownies as well! As a part of the creative process of course :-)
I will be looking forward to your Thursday posts!
Dear Evelyn, you have said things that really touched me. You are so right about learning to be adults and I think just as RAD helped, this group will raise us to some higher levels in many ways not just creatively, but also emotionally and spiritually... and I think those brownies will help too :DD
ReplyDeleteOk, but you can only have 1 brownie a day!!
ReplyDeleteAll these years, I thought I was the only one who want to eat the whole tray of Brownies.
ReplyDeleteMy brain is like a two-year old too, so glad I'm not alone.
ReplyDeleteOh, no, I've always wanted to eat the whole tray, or the whole bag of chips!!
ReplyDeleteTomie, welcome to preschool!!
